I always loved creative writing from about the age of seven. I started
writing Sign of the Times 10 years ago, mainly whilst I was on holiday.
After 5 years, I took a year off work to finish it and redraft and edit
it. Finally in March 2012, I took the step of putting it on Amazon for
the ebook market. It's been a long journey!
1.When
did you start writing?
I’ve
been writing since I was about 7, but I started writing seriously with a view
to getting published about 10 or 11 years ago.
2.Who is your favorite writer?
The
late Maeve Binchy, who always depicted such warm characters. I am sure I drew a
lot of the way I create my characters from her.
You
mean apart from all the social networking, blogging, etc? I spend time with my
family and friends - I like eating out - which I think comes across in my books
too!
4.Your favorite music?
Classical
music plus bizarrely Snow Patrol! Not a great deal of difference.
5.Your favorite movie?
Dirty
Dancing. Nobody puts baby in a corner!
6.Your character Gill travels to Barcelona, have you been there?
I
used to live in Barcelona, just off the Ramblas, near Plaça Reial. But I have
also been back many times. It was my favourite city in Europe, until two years
ago when I fell in love with Seville. Now it’s simply joint first!
7. It was Valentine's Day two weeks ago, so what's your idea for ideal romantic date?
Hmm,
depends, if I am being taken away for Valentine’s, I would love to go to
Venice, to a masked ball, or perhaps be taken a balloon ride somewhere (not in
Scotland in February, though, it’s freezing!)
If
it’s closer to home, either a nice intimate restaurant, with mood lighting, or
a lovely home-cooked meal (not cooked by me!) chez nous and some Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc or Cabernet
Sauvignon to go with it.

Great answers, Sooz! I love that picture of you :) Your desk looks much too tidy though... I am now embarrassed! My desk is always cluttered with paper and unrecognisable items LOL
